Just a reminder that Aqua tickets are on sale all this week at drop-off and pick-up. The night will take place next Monday (8th April). Tickets cost just €35 and includes a Prosecco reception, Aqua dinner with wine, and dessert. We’ll also be hosting our biggest raffle of the year!
This is a great opportunity to have a fabulous night out, and get to know your fellow parents outside the school gates. We hope to see you all there!
Christmas is fast approaching and so too is the iconic Burrow School Christmas Fair! This year’s Fair is taking place on Saturday 1st December from 12 until 3pm, and we have lots of exciting things planned, including a funfair zone, Electric Zoo, BBQ, books stall, holly balloons, Wheel of Fortune, sports equipment and musical instruments stall, artisan foods & cakes stall, Christmas cards and crafts made by the children, hair wraps, Santa, face painting and more. As usual, we need your help though! Can you give us an hour of your time between 12 and 3pm to help out on a stall or attraction? We need lots of volunteers so if you can help at all, please contact Gwen on 0863208737. We’re hoping that this will be a really fun day out for both kids and parents so any help you can offer is much appreciated – thank you!
Burrow School was turned into the most haunted school in Dublin on Friday 19th October when the PA hosted its first spooky Movie Night. Kids enjoyed popcorn, sweets, drinks and other goodies while watching scary films – Scared Shrekless for the little ones and The Corpse Bride for the older classes. Homemade cakes, hotdogs and tea and coffee were also on sale, while a prize was given for the best carved pumpkin.
Thanks to everyone who baked, helped out, supported the night and dressed up – the night raised a whopping €759 for the school, an absolutely fabulous result!
Thank you to everyone who donated sacks of used clothes, shoes and textiles to our autumn clothing collection for Lenrec. We collected a whopping 1.4 tonnes, which will net the school almost €800! A phenomenal start to our fundraising year – thank you! We will be holding another collection in early spring, so put aside those used clothes until then.
Our spooky Halloween movie night takes place in the school hall on Freaky Friday 19th October. Don’t forget to dress up and bring along your carved pumpkin – a special prize will be on offer for the best pumpkin (make sure you label your pumpkin so we know who has won)! Entrance is €5 for kids, or €10 per family, which includes popcorn and other goodies. We will also be selling hotdogs at €1 and cakes for 50c each. Parents are more than welcome to stay for the movie and can enjoy tea/coffee with cake for just €1. The kids’ Halloween art will be on display and can be taken home that evening too.

6pm-7pm: Junior Infants – 2nd Class – Scared Shrekless
7pm-8.30pm: 3rd Class – 6th Class – The Corpse Bride
As usual we need some lovely helpers! Firstly, to bake some cakes – please let Cliodhna know on 0868512991 if you can bake (cakes can be left in the kitchen that morning). And secondly to help with supervision – we need at least three parents from 4th, 5th & 6th class to help supervise the second film; classes that don’t have adequate supervision won’t be able to attend. The school year is flying by and we have already gotten off to a busy start on the PA. We welcomed some new members at our AGM in HYC on September 27th and a brief outline of this years fundraising goals were given. This year we are working towards raising funds for the school’s garden rejuvenation project which is planned for early next year.
The first of our fundraisers began with the clothes recycle drive. We gathered over 1.7 tonnes which earned a whopping €860. We plan to do another one in March in anticipation of the summer clothes coming out and winter clothes being put away!
Our annual Christmas Fair in December was a roaring success. We added some new ideas with a kids craft room and a “Gift Room” which was stocked with beautiful crafts made be several PA members. It in particular proved very successful. We raised over €7k between the fair and the raffle. A huge thank you to all who volunteered their time, donated and attended on the day.
